Philippines Family Trip FAQ Information

Manila
I would like to take the group to Barbara's Heritage Restaurant. They have a Spanish-inspired lunch or dinner buffet dinner show with performances of Filipino cultural music and dance. It is located in Intramuros ("within the walls"), which is one of the places that I recommend we visit in Manila.
Corregidor Island
This one will require one full day. This is the tour that I put on the itinerary specifically for Kevin because he likes war history. We will take a ferry from Manila to Corregidor Island, do the island tour, and ride the ferry back to Manila. I already reached out to the travel agency who books the tour. I just need to give her the specifics (date and number of passengers).
El Nido (town)
There are multiple island hopping tours that we can do from El Nido. I already reached out to Seda Lio Hotel to help us make arrangements. The tours offered are the same regardless of the travel agency used to book it. Here are our choices. Let me know if you want Tour A, B, C, or D. I personally would like to do either Tour A (lagoons) or Tour B (sand bar and cave).
Floral Island
Tour options
Daniel/Diana say: 'We only carry passport when we're flying. We should be able to leave passports in the hotel. When I go to the mall and buy something, I pay with my credit card and I show them my California ID and they accept it. I would carry a bottle of water too.' Diana suggests that you don't carry a purse, but recommend this from Amazon that is similar to what she uses around her waist, covered by her shirt/shorts/pants.
Yes. The hotels Conrad in Manila, Seda Lio in El Nido, and the villas in Floral Island provide laundry services. Half-way through the trip we will be in Floral Island. Their AirBnB profile lists “Paid washer in unit” as one of their amenities.
Exchange rate is about 55 Pesos/Dollar or a Peso is about 2 U.S. cents

Article Shelley found: "One of the last things people think about when going on vacation is foreign cash. If you've forgotten it, don’t make the rash decision of exchanging at foreign exchange booths such as Travelex. You’ll be hit with high transaction or commission fees and pay far less favorable exchange rates. In an age when debit and credit card payments are accepted in the most remotes corners of the world, sometimes cash isn’t required at all. However, it’s always useful to have a few bills in your pocket for tips, taxis, and public transportation. Rather than giving in to the airport exchange houses, use a local ATM machine upon arrival. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the more favorable rates."

Currency Conversion rate - 1 PHP (Philippine Peso) is about 0.018 USD; or 1 USD is about 55 PHP; a quick conversion is to divide PHP by 100 and multiply by 2. You'll be about 10% low but the math is easy.
